Why Choose A Professional Snooker Coach?

Why choose a professional snooker coach?

Jim is considered one of the top coaches in snooker as his list of past successes, including world ranked stars, demonstrate what he is cabable of. His list of successful players, both amateur and professional, continues to grow as can be seen in both the News section and Testimonial section of the website. Jim also has a very successful Junior Academy with champions and International players in every age group.

Another reason to choose Jim is, as a player at the top professional level he was able to reach 29th in the World Rankings and was the first Scottish player to play at the Crucible, winning matches against many of the top professional players.

Having 30 years experience as a player and a coach, Jim can spot the smallest of things in players, that other coaches can't, and by correcting these little faults he can help you make the difference between winning and loosing.

That is why you should choose Jim Donnelly as your professional coach.

Improve your snooker Coaching Academy student Nev Graham powered his way through the qualifying rounds of the English Amatuer Snooker Championship, by winning every match without losing a frame . Nev had a string of 40  plus breaks, a 58 and 67 clearance and he is now showing the class and potential I always new he had . Nev is now in the finals which are held in Sheffield in April  and I am sure he will do well.

Congratulations Nev and good luck.

Anthony Reaches the Quarter Finals

Former Improve Your Snooker star Anthony McGill has shown his class by making it through to the Quarter Finals of this years UK championship snooker tournament. Anthony who was the most successful Scottish junior ever during his time with Jim, is now fulfilling his potential in the professional game.

Anthony, 23, was playing Ronnie O'Sullivan in only his second quarter final in a ranking tournament, after beating four-time champion and another former Improve Your Snooker student John Higgins 6-5 in the last 16 on Wednesday.

But O'Sullivan, who made a top break of 125, was impressed by his Scottish opponent and tipped him to have a big future in the sport.

"I made some really good clearances, but I couldn't shake him off," O'Sullivan stated. "I have nothing left after that game and I had to draw on every bit of my experience to win it.

"Anthony is a bit like Mark Selby where he has got such a good all-round game. I hope he goes on to play snooker for many years to come because snooker is lucky to have him."

Congratulations Anthony

Missing Professional Competitions

I recently recieved an email from Nick in Manchester asking if I missed playing in the pro tournaments?

The answer is not suprisingly yes. Playing in professional tournaments was an amazing time in my life and the buzz I got playing at the top level in the sport I love was just fantastic, something you simply cant buy. I will never forget how I felt walking into the Crucible arena to play the great Ray Reardon in the World Championships, that was just incredible, especially when the Hurricane is playing on the next table. I have played some great players in my career including 6 world champions and now my passion for the game is transferred into coaching. Helping a new generation of players inspires me to improve their game and hopefully achieve the success of many of my previous students .

So to Nick and all the players out there who dream of reaching that height, practice hard, be dedicated and competitive and you might achieve your dream too.

Good luck
